WHY YOU ARE THE WAY YOU ARE CAN BE DETERMINED BY YOUR FAMILY BIRTH ORDER.

WHY YOU ARE THE WAY YOU ARE CAN BE DETERMINED BY YOUR FAMILY BIRTH ORDER.

Were you the first born in your family, an only child, middle child or even the baby of the family? Many studies over the decades have found direct relationships to success, both professionally and socially There is the example of our own Presidents and their birth order. Twenty four out of forty three were first born. Our most recent was Bill Clinton, who was not only first born but an only child. That makes a super –achiever, based on the studies. Jimmy Carter was a first born, Lyndon Johnson was the oldest of five children. And so it goes. There’s also a relevance between last born and even middle born.

Dr. Kevin Leman, in his great new book titled “The New Birth Order Book,” builds on and compliles mountains of research in this subject to help us understand what our personalities will be like: will you be a perfectionist, how you can make your birth order work for you in business (an example is Lee Iacocca)  what type of husband or wife you will be. The list of possibilities is endless, it seems. But Leman is so good at picking out the character and personality of people he interviews that he once made Katy Couric stop in the middle of an interview, as he told her what her birth order was. He recognized that her perky demeanor was a result of her birth order. Birth order characteristics can also be the result of a death of a sibling like the case of John F. Kennedy.

There have been 58 different variables developed and researched that will paint a picture of the character in almost every individual. It is the first born that will almost always show traditionalist, responsible, anxious, extroversion, and a hundred different “leadership” characteristics. This is a fun book but it’s also a serious examination of the dynamics of the family. And believe it or not the birth order of your parents, and even your grandparents, also has an effect on your own life. Our first president, George Washington, was the fifth child of his father but the first child of his mother. So you can see how complex this can get.
