WE ALL KNOW THE POWERFUL BRAND NAME AND PRODUCTS FROM INTEL BUT WHAT ELSE DO WE KNOW?

The name Andy Grove may not be familiar to most, but he should be on a short list of the most important pioneers in the electronic and Internet world. He should stay there for eternity. He was born in Hungary in 1936, and the family escaped the Holocaust. What they had to escape next was the Soviet occupation. Lucky we are to have Andy alive today. His career is the stuff of legends. He finished his Masters and came to Silicone Valley just at the time of the founding of Intel (1968) where he became CEO in 1987. He, Gordon Moore and Bob Noyce and others, led the way in development of the chips we know and use so much each day. There are few electronic appliances or machines that do not have the familiar “Intel Inside” logo on them.

The story about his trials and tribulations and this great American company, almost day by day, were often thrilling and exciting. In an intriguing new book called “Andy Grove--His Life and Times” by frequent author Richard Tedlow scrupulously covers these. He tells us how Grove’s traumatic youth shaped both his personality and approach to business; how he studied human dynamics and taught himself to be a great manager; how he learned from the failures of some of the experiments with chip design in the 90’s and formed an even stronger Intel as well as helped to design better and better products that we all benefit from.

Andy has been able to improve himself and the company and the world because he was able to accept these realities. He has been called the greatest American business leader of his generation. Decades from now we will still honor him for all he has given us.
