IN A WORLD OF CAN’T THE NEW MURPHY’S LAWS TELL YOU HOW YOU CAN

We all say to ourselves at one time or another, “It’s Murphy’s Law.” And it refers to something totally negative. There is a new modern version of this that is completely positive. Murphy continues in his positive advice: sixth-Put Your Time Where It Really Counts; seventh-Throw Away Anger; eighth-Do The Right Thing; ninth-Give More Than You Receive; and finally tenth-Never, Never Give Up. All of these individually and collectively will unlock the power of optimism in your life. They also can become great lessons for your subordinates as well as your children. What a great service this is. In number 3, as an example, Murphy dictates that you should “let your actions speak louder than words, speak truthfully and boldly, listen as hard as you can, keep your audience in mind”. Being shy is useless, he says. Teaching yourself to speak up is healing for you.

Mike Ditka, the great football player and coach, often told his players”You’re never a loser until you quit trying.”  This sums up number 10 in the New Murphy’s Laws which says Never, Never, Never Give Up. There are thousands of those we know, as present day and historic personalities, who followed this one. You can count the likes of Ben Franklin, Thomas Edison, Bill Gates and Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, Beatrix Potter, Winston Churchill…there are so many, that space does not permit mentioning further. Yes this is everyday wisdom about courage and responsibility that that has been heard through the ages, but until now has never been codified.
