MEET HENRY KING--ONE OF THE FOUNDERS OF THE MODERN DAY WORLD COURT SYSTEM
Professor Henry T. King is one of the few living participants from the Nuremburg Trials after WWII. He was plucked from a small group of American legal geniuses at the young age of 26 to join the select group of lawyers and prosecutors making the international case against the surviving Nazi generals and officials.
Henry knew all of the dozens of defendants intimately and interviewed them many times, by the end of the trial in 1947. He also helped to convict most of them and punish them for their crimes against humanity. You may remember that a Hollywood movie was made about the trial staring Gregory Peck. King knew Albert Speer best of all. You may know that Speer was the “window” into Hitler’s personality and without him we would never know just how horrible and fiendish this man Hitler was. Speer and King remained good friends all throughout Speer’s incarceration and even after his release until his final days they corresponded and met.
The Nurenburg Trials set the pattern and rules for all of the following legal trials in The Hague and other and other World Court centers. Without their groundbreaking work we would never be able to prosecute some of the great international criminals of the 20th and 21st centuries. Sadaam Hussein and others are the latest to be tried for crimes against all of us. Henry wrote a best selling book about the trial and the participants that was published in 1997, titled The Two Worlds of Albert Speer; Reflections of a Nuremburg Prosecutor.
Today Henry T. King is Professor Emeritus at Case Western Reserve University Law School in Cleveland Ohio. He teaches international law and other legal subjects. He is also Director and co-founder of the Canada/United States Law Institute . This renowned body has conducted international seminars, each of the past 30 years. These meetings, are attended by many of the top political people of our day and representatives from industry, commerce and NGO’s. They serve as forums for the two great North American partner countries to develop and examine many premises and treatises to solidify the strong relationship in all aspects of law, trade, commerce and international relationships.
