RONNI EISENBERG MAY SEEM TO BE THE MOST ORGANIZED PERSON IN THE WORLD

But she admits herself that at times she feels like the least organized. We live in a world today that sometimes demands that we have 26 or more hours in each day just to stay even with the demands. But 24 is all we get so we have to find ways to organize our lives to survive. Whether you would just like more time to spend with your family, time to set aside for yourself and your pursuits, or enough time so that you can read a book (uninterrupted) now and then, Ronni can promise you results. She says that when she began to study the science of “time management” she never imagined it would turn into a lifetime passion and even a business. But it has and she admits her life is also easier to manage.

Ms. Eisenberg quickly discovered the art of regaining this control of your life. In fact she created eight steps to do it.
Step one—track your time—Begin by creating a time chart for one full week. Your pattern are important to the later plan. It may sound like a waste of time but trust me it’s not.
Step 2—identify your goals—At the same time look at your priorities. For instance as you look at particular tasks or items, make a judgment as to whether it was necessary or not. This exercise will definitely help later.
Step 3—evaluate your time and goals in preparation for some changes—For instance if your evaluation includes empty time segments maybe you can do other things to take up that time. This is really the most important step.
Step 4—make your goals manageable—Focus on the most important tasks first. Break each task into manageable pieces and see if the task can be downsized. Set deadlines for things so you will be able to see progress.
Step five—simplify with systems—Make sure the tasks you have on your list flow smoothly. This in itself will cost you extra time. Also make groups of essential tasks and do them simultaneously.
Step 6—say no—That may sound strange but in your weekly time frames there are many people who interrupt you to request a bit of your time for something. Make a rule that you either say “no” or put them off to a more convenient time for “you”. Eventually many will stop coming to you for help. They will do their tasks themselves. But please don’t be afraid to turn them down.
Step 7—organize—There are so many things you can do to organize each task to be completed. For instance having all the tools or ingredients in one place before you begin will save time and frustration too.
Step 8—shake things up—Think about doing tasks or projects in a different order every once in a while. Also you can change the way you do them as well. This will keep the process fresh and you also may discover new ways to do them to your liking as well.
This only the beginning of the process for making your life manageable. Ronni has spent many years examining ways to help herself and us in the pursuit of efficiency and happiness in your life. Look for her latest book called “Organize Your Life”. It is full of delightful gems that are so simple and easy to use that you will kick yourself for not thinking of it yourself.
